Privacy Policy

Effective date: 29 June 2026

Draft. This is a draft privacy policy provided as a starting point and does not constitute legal advice. Please have it reviewed by a qualified professional and complete the bracketed placeholders before relying on it.

Deski ("Deski", "we", "us") is a local-first desktop time-tracker. Our guiding principle is simple: your data stays on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice, both for the Deski desktop application and for this website.

1. The short version

2. Data the Deski app stores (on your device only)

To show you your time blocks, charts and tags, Deski records the following locally, in a single SQLite database file on your computer:

This information is never uploaded. It remains under your control on your machine.

3. Privacy safeguards built into tracking

Deski is deliberately designed to capture as little as possible:

4. Network connections

The core time-tracking features of Deski work entirely offline and make no network requests. Where a feature does need the network, it is limited and described here:

5. This website

This website is a static informational site. It does not require an account and does not ask you to submit personal information. If we add forms, analytics, or third-party services in future, this policy will be updated to describe them, and we will continue to prefer the most privacy-preserving options available.

6. Children's privacy

Deski is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data from users at all.

7. Your rights

Because your data is stored only on your device, you have direct and complete control over it. You can view, export (where supported), or permanently delete it at any time from within the app, without needing to contact us.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent to [CONTACT EMAIL].
